The HIV/AIDS pandemic is exacting a devastating toll in Zimbabwe:
- More than 1 million children are orphans because their parents have died from AIDS.
- Nearly 25 percent of the adult population suffers from AIDS or HIV — a higher percentage than any other African nation.
- An estimated 3,290 people die from AIDS each week.
- Life expectancy for Zimbabweans: men is now age 37, women is 34
