Helping Victims of HIV/AIDS

The value of providing medical care to children with AIDS is clear. Helping adult victims of AIDS also helps children affected by AIDS. It strengthens parents preventing their children from becoming orphans. It keeps the orphans' teachers, health care givers, and other community leaders in better health and more able to provide a supportive and nurturing environment in which the children can thrive.

It also begins to restore hope in their communities that an AIDS diagnosis is not a death sentence. Finally, treating victims of AIDS motivates others to learn their HIV/AIDS status and to act responsibly based on that knowledge.

Like the 'Helping AIDS Orphans' program, this one too strives for comprehensive solutions to patients' illness. In addition to providing medicine and medical care to Persons Living With AIDS, it supports patient health by ensuring that they and their children have adequate safe water, food, shelter, clothing and their children can complete their primary education.

When needed, we give adults a small stipend to provide those necessities. Also in this program, as in the 'Helping AIDS Orphans' program, older children and adults receive vocational training to help to secure their future health and independence.
